Why My Dishwasher Is Not Getting Water

Dishwashers not filling up with water during the wash cycle phase can be due to many reasons. From a power issue, water supply not working or the door was not closed securely before starting.

If you are having an issue with your dishwasher not filling up when it should, here are some troubleshooting tips that may help solve this problem.

Check Water Connections

First check the water connections to the dishwasher. The water pipe connects underneath the sink and runs to the back of the dishwasher. Under the sink there also is an isolation valve to stop water reaching the washer.

Ensure the valve is at the open position, to allow water to flow through.

If you are using a portable dishwasher, make sure the hoses are attached and there is no kink in the line.

Check Dishwasher Filters

If everything appears to be set up correctly and your dishwasher still isn’t getting water, check the dishwasher’s filters. Dirty filters can restrict the flow of water and cause your dishwasher to not fill up during the cycle.

Remove any debris or food particles caught in the filters. It is important to run a clean cycle once per month to keep all filters clean and functioning.

Is Your Home Water Supply Working

This might seem like common sense but make sure the water supply is reaching your home. A quick way to check this is to turn on your water tap to confirm there is no local issue with water supply.

Dishwasher Door Issues

To enable the cycle to start the dishwasher door needs to be closed. If it is not closed the cycle will not start and water will then not fill up within the washer.

If the door is shut and still not starting there might be an issue with the door sensor. Try pushing the latch in and out with your finger to check if it is not sticking.

Booking a Repair Engineer

If you still are unable to fix the issue by using the above troubleshooting guide you will need to contact a repair engineer. Any machines under warranty should be referred back to the manufacturer.

If there is no warranty you can contact your local repair engineer to come and resolve your issue. Hopefully one of these tips will help you get your dishwasher up and running properly again!

Dishwasher Making Noise When Water Circulates

If you dishwasher is making loud noise when circulating water it can be a sign of an issue with the appliance. The common cause for this noise is worn bearings in the water circulation pump.

These will need to be replaced to stop any loud noises and any further issues further down the line. Although a loud noise can mean a fault, it is also recommended to take into account that water being sprayed around with high pressure will cause some noise disturbance during the cycle, which is normal.
